Day 2: Rare collections draw philatelists to state-level expo

Three special covers on butterflies, migratory birds at Sukhna Lake and Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary were released on the second day of the state-level philately exhibition, “PUNPEX-2016”, here today.

Achla Bhatnagar, Chief Postmaster General (Punjab Circle), released the covers which were put on sale during the exhibition.

Rare collection of stamps on great personalities, historical monuments, heritage, culture and flora-fauna are on display by renowned philatelists from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh.

Meanwhile, a quiz, group discussion and letter-writing competition was also organised during the exhibition in which students of prestigious schools, including St Stephen’s School-Sector 45 , St Kabir Public School-Sector 26, Shishu Niketan School-Mohali, and Yadavindra Public School-Mohali, participated enthusiastically.

Students of St Stephen’s School emerged the winners in quiz and group discussion. Shayiq Ahmed of St Stephen’s School, Ashmit Badal of St Kabir Public School and Arnav Badal of St Stephen’s School won various prizes.

Moreover, a special booth has been set up by India Post to sell items with stamp imprints.
