The Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO) here transferred the technology to manufacture advanced spraying equipment, called Air-Assisted Electrostatic Sprayer, to a Rajasthan-based private firm, Dashmesh Industries, for commercial production, today.

Electrostatic spraying reduces the pesticides use significantly with higher efficiency and bio-efficacy. According to CSIO scientists, there is a serious concern over excessive use of pesticides and their adverse effects on human health, soil and water contamination and environment. India is facing adverse consequences because of old and inefficient technologies.

There is a pressing need of new chemical application sprayer for small scale farmers to spray pesticides on crops, orchards and fruit trees. To meet this requirement, an indigenously low-cost electrostatic spraying system has been designed and developed by the CSIO. The spraying system is lightweight, highly efficient and eco-friendly, thereby reducing pesticide use.

The transfer of technology was signed by Dr Amod Kumar, Chief Scientist and Head, Business Initiatives and Project Planning, CSIO, and Jasbeer Singh, President, and Ramandeep Singh, Managing Director, Dashmesh Industries. CSIO Director Prof RK Sinha was also present on the occasion.
