Mandi, July 6

The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) will launch a nation-wide agitation against the anti-people policies of the NDA government.

State CPM secretary Dr Onkar Shad said the party would launch a nation-wide agitation from August 1 till August 14 against the anti-people policies of the NDA government. The protests would be held at the tehsil and district levels, he said.

Instead of focusing on the issues of black money, price rise and unemployment, the NDA government had diverted the attention of the public on the Swatch Bharat programme and yoga, he said while addressing a meeting of the district committee here yesterday.

He said the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre was implementing policies in the favour of industrials and corporate houses and had forgotten the issues of bringing back black money, controlling prices of essential commodities and providing jobs to unemployed youths.

He said the Prime Minister was spending more time in foreign countries than in India, but still not even a single company had accepted his offer.

Prices of essential commodities were increasing day-by-day and petrol and diesel prices were again at their peak, he said and added that the government had reduced the MGNREGA budget by nearly 50 per cent.

The party would seek regularisation of land under cultivation of farmers and oppose the move to fell trees. The party would hold kisan sammelans in Shimla on July 8 and in Kangra on July 29.

District CPM secretary Bhupender Singh said the party would intensify its agitation over the issues of monkeys, stray cattle and problems of workers.
