The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) will adopt best cultivation practices to double farm income in the state. This was today stated by agri scientists at a programme organised by SKUAST-Jammu at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), RS Pura.

The programme was attended by 250 farmers. Dr AK Singh, Deputy Director General (Extension), ICAR, was the chief guest. He said, “ICAR and the Centre are taking initiatives to double farm income.”

Emphasising the role of KVKs in guiding farmers, Dr Rajbir Singh, Director, Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, said, “Farmers must adopt agriculture as an enterprise and avail of benefits of government-run schemes.” He also chaired a meeting to discuss the annual action plan (2017-18) of the KVKs of the university. Associate Director Extension (in-charge KVKs) Dr RK Arora, KVK Head Dr Vikas Tandon also spoke. Dr AP Singh and Dr Kamlesh Bali from SKUAST-Jammu educated the farmers about integrated crop management.
