Cop caught taking Rs 10,000 bribe

CHANDIGARH:A Head Constable of the UT police, posted at the Burail police post in Sector 45, was arrested by sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 this evening.

A Head Constable of the UT police, posted at the Burail police post in Sector 45, was arrested by sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 this evening.

Sources said the complainant, Jeet, had approached the CBI claiming that Head Constable Parveen Kumar was demanding a bribe of Rs 10,000.

After verifying the complaint, CBI sleuths laid a trap at Burail near the police post and arrested the policeman while taking the bribe.

Sources said the policeman was demanding money for not acting against the complainant for satta.

The CBI has registered a case against the policeman. He will be produced in the court tomorrow.  

Cops trapped by CBI in ’15 

Dec 21: The CBI arrested SI Sewak Singh while taking a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a resident of Kaimbwala near Hotel Taj in Sector 17.

August 13: The CBI arrested a DSP,  an SI and two city-based businessmen for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 40 lakh.

June 2: CBI sleuths arrested an SI for taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the premises of the District Courts in Sector 43.

April 7: An SI was arrested by CBI sleuths while allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 at the Sector 31 police station.

March 17: SI Balbir Singh was nabbed by the CBI for taking a bribe of Rs 35,000 from a resident of Panchkula.
