Cop among three killed in car-bus collision near Muktsar

Muktsar, November 26 

In a head-on collision between an Indica car and a Punbus early this morning, three persons, including a police personnel, all belonging to Kapurthala, were killed near Bura Gujjar village on the Muktsar-Sadiq road here.

The car was overloaded, as seven persons, including a child, were travelling in it. The injured were first taken to Civil Hospital in Muktsar, and later referred to Faridkot.

The deceased were identified as Bachan Singh (48), a police personnel, his daughter Manpreet Kaur (24) and a neighbour woman, who appeared to be in mid-thirties. They were reportedly going to pay obeisance at Lalgarh village in SriGangangar district in Rajasthan.

The bus was going from Muktsar to Amritsar. The bus driver managed to flee from the spot, leaving behind the vehicle. The Sadar Muktsar Police have started investigations.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Satwant Singh, Investigating Officer, said, “The deceased cop is identified as Bachan Singh, but we are yet to ascertain his exact designation. Of the total seven persons travelling in the car, three have died.”
