Chandigarh, October 13

Raising many an eyebrow over the functioning of the police, the undertrial, Rajan Bhatti, fled from the custody of the same constable from whose custody notorious snatcher Cheenu had fled from the District Courts on June 9 this year.  Bhatti was in the custody of Constable Harbans Singh when he fled from the court.

On June 9, notorious snatcher Cheenu had fled from the court while he was in the custody of Constable Harbans Singh after which he was arrested and suspended.  Despite the negligence, Harbans Singh was reinstated and entrusted with the same task, raising questions over the police functioning.  Police sources said a report was now being prepared, highlighting the negligence of the constable.

Intelligence failure

Inmates fleeing from the District Court complex points towards the failure of the intelligence wing of the UT police as conspiracies are hatched in the jail after which aides of undertrials reach the court to help them escape.
