Congress nominees Ashu, Dawar ready for fight

Congress nominee from Ludhiana (Central) Surinder Dawar today kept waiting for nearly 15 minutes to file his nominations. No, it was not the returning officer who made him wait, but the “shubh muhurat” for entering the office to file his nomination. 

Surinder Dawar reached the office of returning officer at 12 noon, but he waited till 12.15 pm after which he entered the RO office to file his nomination. 

According to the affidavit submitted by Dawar, his total income shown in the income tax return filed in 2015-16 is Rs 16,10,379, Rs 50,000 cash in hand, Rs 2,61,07,789.02 gross total value of his movable assets and Rs 16,60,00,000 gross value of his immovable property. Surprisingly, he does not own a car and had done metric from Malwa Khalsa Higher Senior Secondary School.

Another Congress candidate, Bharat Bhushan Ashu also filed his nominations from Ludhiana (West). Ashu is a graduate from Arya College for Boys. According to the affidavit submitted, he has Rs 50,000 cash in hand and total income shown in the last income tax return filed is Rs 9,83,343. He has movable assets worth Rs 42,18,076.47 and immovable assets worth Rs 43,81,520.
