Dehradun, April 26

Congress workers yesterday burnt effigies of the state and Central governments alleging that both the BJP governments were pursuing anti-people policies.

Led by senior women Congress leader Kamlesh Raman, they gathered at the   Ashley Hall chowk  and burnt the effigies. They also resorted to sloganeering against the governments. The protesters alleged that ever since BJP came to power at the Centre as well as in the state the prices of essential commodities had risen sharply affecting the poor and middle-class sections of society.

They said to make things worse for the poor, even foodgrains provided to the state through fair price shops had been reduced drastically.  —TNS
