The Congress today demanded imposition of the President’s rule in the state in the wake of “deteriorating law and order situation” in the state. In a representation submitted to Governor VP Singh Badnore, party’s chief spokesperson Sunil Jakhar along with other MLAs demanded that the next Assembly elections be conducted under the President’s rule.

“Be it killing of Jagdish Gagneja or Chand Kaur or murderous attack on preacher Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale, the Akali government had failed on all fronts. The mere demand from the BJP for a CBI probe in Gagneja’s killing was the proof of the coalition partner losing faith in the Akalis,” Jakhar said.

He claimed that organised gangs had flourished under the present government.
