Chief Minister Harish Rawat today said the “Sanskriti Diwas” would be held on the birth anniversary of Indramani Badoni, known as the “Gandhi of Uttarakhand”, from next year. He said various programmes would be held to mark his birth anniversary.

The CM paid floral tributes to the leader at his statues near Clock Tower today. Rawat said Badoni was also remembered as the “Gandhi of Uttarakhand” for his struggle for the creation of Uttarakhand.

He assured that effective measures would be taken by the state government to create employment opportunities for the youth.

“The state government is committee to carrying forward development activities in the state,” he said.

At another function, Uttarakhand Andolankari Samman Parishad chairman Dhirendra Pratap, along with his supporters, performed a yajna after paying floral tributes to Badoni.

He demanded the report of the Tripathi Commission on the corruption cases during the previous BJP government and demanded that they be made public and action be taken against the guilty.

Pratap said Badoni was in favour of making Gairsain the state’s capital to ensure development of the hilly areas.
