The Legislative Assembly witnessed noisy scenes as the opposition Congress sought an adjournment motion on the relief and rehabilitation of 2014 flood victims. The National Conference (NC) supported it. Members of the parties entered the well of the House and eventually walked out.

Soon when the House assembled for question hour, Congress members raised the issue asking the Speaker to allow a discussion on the adjournment motion by Usman Majeed. National Conference members Ali Mohammad Sagar and Mubarak Gul raised the issue of recent militant killings in Sarai Bala area of the city, while Congress member from Kishtwar, GM Saroori, raised the matter of a youth’s killing in Chatroo area of his constituency.

The Speaker said the issues had already been raised and he would allow a discussion of one and a half hours on the implementation of the National Food Security Act. It had been moved by Congress members yesterday.

After staging their protest in the well for about half an hour, Congress and National Conference members walked out of the House.
