Chandigarh, February 25

State Congress general secretary Manveer Kaur Gill today hit out at Palwal MLA Karan Singh Dalal for his “diatribes” against HPCC chief Ashok Tanwar and said the party functionaries from the state would soon meet the party high command against him.

Referring to the news item, ‘Hooda faction lobbies for Tanwar’s removal’, published in The Tribune today in which Dalal accused the state Congress president of having failed to take all factions of the party together, Manveer alleged that Dalal’s statement amounted to weakening the organisation.

“It is not for the first time that Dalal has launched a bitter verbal attack against Tanwar or other Congress leaders,” said Manveer.

She said Dalal must remember that if he had been elected MLA several times, it was because of the Congress party, which he was trying to weaken by his statements. “If he was too confident about his popularity, he should contest the next election as an independent,” the Congress leader said.

She said as far as Tanwar’s term in the office was concerned, the issue had to be decided by the party president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

Manveer said the office-bearers of the state Congress would soon meet Kamal Nath, in-charge of the party affairs in Haryana, and bring to his notice anti-party activities of Dalal. — TNS
