Designer Pria Kataaria Puri, who has dressed the likes of Aishawarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Madonna, Paris Hilton and Oprah, values style way over fashion.

After spending 20 years in the fashion industry, she feels that despite innumerable fashion shows and hullabaloo over social media, there is still a huge gap between fashion and the common man. So, when she was offered a celeb chat show on style, she was quick to grab it.

“It’s style that’s significant, fashion can help you enhance what you have but certainly it’s not big brands that turn you a style diva,” opens up Pria, who defines fashion as just a tool to enhance one’s personality. “It could be anything – a street pick, Zara or Dior buy or a pass over from mother that someone with an inherent sense of style can turn fashionable.”

Coming to her show called Born Stylish that went on air from November 28 on Colors Infinity and VH 1 is a celeb chat show that will have Pria talk to icons, right from Akshay Kumar, Fawad Khan, Anil Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha, Malaika Arora Khan to Jean Paul Gaultier!

The show charts sartorial choice of the celebs picking up a theme each week. “Like we have done Akshay Kumar as an alpha male with his rugged, raw appeal; Anil Kapoor, who in his 40 years in Bollywood, has evolved this suave, sophisticated style sans any big brands but yes very well fitted clothes and Sonakshi Sinha, who has embraced her tall, curvaceous body with confidence flaunting it in very edgy, avant-garde sort,” Pria shares.

Her icon over the years has remained Madonna. “I have grown up following Madonna’s music and style. It’s her music that has inspired my creative streak,” says this fan of the Material girl.

“Women empowerment, gender discrimination is what she started highlighting in her songs way before the terms became popular. I remain her true fan to date.”

To step out in style in the winter, Pria isn’t the one to talk you into buying new stuff. “It’s all about accessories this season. Faux fur is huge. Add a cape, capelet or even scarf with fur edges and turn your old coat new.”

Among the colours she tips dove grey and marsala to be trending. “If you find an interesting scarf in any of these colours, just grab it. Add a pair of knee-high boots to ace your winter look!”

Point taken, check out more on Born Stylish on Colors Infinity every Saturday at prime time.
