Suresh Prajapat, a complainant in the murder case against self-proclaimed godman Sant Rampal, has alleged that he was being pressurised by some people, purportedly Rampal aides.

Prajapat said the aides had been visiting him at his house in Jakhora village of Lalitpur district in UP to withdraw the case.

The complainant’s wife, Rajni, died at Satlok Ashram on November 18, last year during the police operation to arrest the godman in Barwala town of the district.

The police had registered a case under sections 302 (murder), 323 (wrongful confinement) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) against Rampal and many of his aides on November 19.

Talking toThe Tribune today, Prajapat said a group of people who were conversing in Haryanavi, but claimed to be Delhi residents, have been visiting him over the last three months.

Prajapat said he called up the Barwala and Agroha police stations in Hisar, but he got terse replies from the cops. “The police officials at Agroha told me to contact Barwala police station. When I called at Barwala police station, I was told to do whatever I wish and they hung up the call thereafter,” he said.

He added, “I fear for my life if I visit Hisar to pursue the case under the present circumstances.”

Rampal’s advocate AP Singh, however, maintained they had not visited any complainant or witness in the case. “We are ready for the legal battle to defend our client who is innocent. We never visited anyone for a settlement out of court. The police filed a chargesheet in the case and I am waiting for the copies of the same to take up the matter in court.”

Hisar IGP Anil Kumar Rao when contacted stated the complainant should inform the UP Police about the incident. “We will cooperate with the UP police in identifying such people if they are from Haryana.”
