Students from poor families enrolled themselves for special coaching classes, being run under the third Jagriti mission supported by Guru Nanak Fifth Centenary School (GNFCS), at a special function at the Municipal Council Auditorium here today.

GNFC Dean ND Sawhney said the programme had become extremely popular among needy students. More than 300 students got themselves enrolled this year. She said GNFCS teachers sacrificed their winter vacation and agreed to teach the needy students from Hindi medium schools in subjects ranging from science to arithmetic for a month. She appealed to parents to support the project by sending their wards so that they can learn.

GNFCS Principal Anil Tiwari said students from Hindi medium schools had to suffer in absence of adequate teaching staff, hence it was decided to run such a project in Mussoorie.

Sunil Bakshi, administrative officer of the school, said the project, in its fourth year, was started to provide free coaching to students of financially-weak families studying in various schools in Mussoorie.
