A continuous medical education (CME) programme was organised by Ludhiana chapter of Indian Medical Association (IMA) in which Dr Naveen Bajaj spoke on office practice in neonatology.

He stressed upon the need for presence of a paediatrician, preferably a neonatologist, at the time of every delivery. He also stated that every new born baby should be subjected to a detailed clinical examination so that congenital abnormalities could be detected at earliest as it would save many lives.

Second speaker on the occasion Dr Neeraj Nagpal discussed violence against medical doctors, current situation and solutions. Dr Nagpal stressed upon good documentation, proper communication with patients and their relatives, early detection of patients clinical deterioration and referral of the patient to appropriate higher centre.

Dr Rajeev Bhalla, Civil Surgeon, Ludhiana, was the guest of honour. He advised doctors to attend CMEs in large numbers to update their clinical skills.

Dr Bimal Kanish, honorary secretary, IMA, Ludhiana, apprised delegates about the observance of National Black Day on April 27 (Thursday) as directed by the National IMA against the Clinical Establishment Act passed by the West Bengal government.

Dr Daljit Singh was honoured by the IMA for achieving the status of Super Rannadeur on the occasion. Dr Daljit Singh has cycled 600 km in less than 40 hours. He is the first doctor in the north zone to have achieved this feat.
