Lambi, January 23

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today returned to his constituency after three days, holding a meeting of the party’s SC wing at his residence in Badal village.

The CM had recently covered all 72 villages in the Assembly segment. He had left to canvass for SAD candidates in other constituencies late last week.

During the meeting, the CM recounted the welfare schemes launched by the SAD-BJP government. He not only sought votes from the gathering but also appealed to them to campaign for him. His relatives, including Major Bhupinder Singh, Paramjit Singh ‘Lali’ Badal and the local Akali leaders who have been given the charge of a group of villages, are now going door to door seeking votes for him.

A senior SAD leader from Lambi said, “The CM appealed to everyone to tell the public that the other two candidates are outsiders.”

He added that the CM was scheduled to visit Ferozepur and Ludhiana districts tomorrow, but would return to Badal village in the evening.

Meanwhile, Raninder Singh has been handling the election campaign of his father, Congress candidate and PPCC chief Capt Amarinder Singh, for the past week. He and local party leaders are holding public meetings in the villages. Amarinder had toured some villages during a roadshow after filing his nomination on January 18. He is expected to visit again on January 28, sources said.

AAP nominee Jarnail Singh has covered all villages once. He is now holding roadshows, accompanied by comedian Gurchet Chitarkar and singer Sukhwinder Sukhi. His supporters from Delhi and his relatives are camping here. A team of NRIs has also come for his campaign.
