Rohtak, January 15

INLD MLA Abhay Singh Chautala, Leader of the Opposition in the Haryana Assembly, has alleged that Chief Minister Manohar Lal was misleading people on the SYL issue by stating that the matter was under consideration of the apex court.

“The verdict on the SYL issue has been passed by the Constitutional Bench and it cannot be challenged in any court of law. Hence, no matter pertaining to the SYL issue is pending before any court. The Chief Minister is lying to the people and has no right to occupy the post he holds,” the INLD leader said here today.

Addressing a news conference at the local party office this afternoon, Abhay maintained that more than two months had passed since the passage of the SYL verdict, but the Chief Minister had not been able to get an appointment with the Prime Minister to discuss the matter.

Replying to a question, the INLD leader remarked that the BJP regime in Haryana was a “government of festivals” and crores of rupees of public money were being wasted in the name of celebrations.

He also decried Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij’s statement against Mahatma Gandhi and demanded the registration of a sedition case against Vij.
