CM keeps home, Pant gets finance

Chief Minister Trivender Singh Rawat distributed the remaining portfolios to his nine ministers last night. He has kept around 40 portfolios including the home, health and PWD departments.

Among the key departments that the Chief Minister will hold, include home, power, vigilance, disaster management, medical and health, medical education, personnel, revenue, science and technology, soldier welfare food and civil supplies and industries among others states the list released yesterday.

Prakash Pant and Satpal Maharaj, who were in the race for the post of Chief Minister, too have been given important portfolios. Along with holding the portfolio of parliamentary affairs, Pant has been allocated the finance, water resources, cane sugar development, excise, entertainment and commercial tax.

Satpal Maharaj has been given the responsibilities of irrigation, minor irrigation, tourism-pilgrimage and culture and flood control measures. Arvind Pandey has got the departments of school education, adult education, sports, youth welfare and Panchayati Raj.

Cabinet Minister Madan Kaushik has been given the portfolios of urban development, Rajiv Gandhi housing, census, reorganisation and election.

Yashpal Arya will handle the portfolios of social welfare, transport, minorities, student welfare and border area development.

Subodh Uniyal has been entrusted with the responsibilities of agriculture, horticulture, agriculture education and sericulture.

Harak Singh Rawat has got the portfolios of environment and forests, labour and employment, ayush and ayush education, Minister of State Rekha Arya will handle women and child welfare, animal husbandry, sheep and goat rearing and pisciculture.

Minister of State Dhan Singh Rawat has been given the responsibilities of cooperative, higher education, milk production and protocol.


Deputy Speaker to be elected on March 28 

Dehradun: Vidhan Sabha Secretary Jagdish Chander today said the election to the Deputy Speaker of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly will take place on March 28. The last date for the nominations is March 27 and the notification for the same has been issued by the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat. TNS
