CM inaugurates Kalpana Chawla Medical College

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today announced to develop a civil hospital in the old building of Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital (KCGMCH) till a new proposal is finalised.

Karnal has been without a civil hospital from December 2012 after it was merged in the KCGMCH under the previous government. The staff members of the hospital were also sent on deputation to KCGMCH.

Since then, several attempts have been made by the people and the staff members of the civil hospital who have been sent on deputation for a separate civil hospital in Karnal.

They had also approached the HAFED Chairman Harvinder Kalyan, Mayor Renu Bala Gupta, Health Minister Anil Vij and the CM.

The CM, while inaugurating the hospital and OPD buildings of KCGMCH, made the announcement about the civil hospital for the smooth functioning of national health programmes.

The government would develop a civil hospital in the district, but for the time being, it would be operated from the old building of KCGMCH, said the CM.

The residents hailed the decision of the CM. “We are happy as the CM has fulfilled our demand and gave us a double delight by opening two buildings of KCGMCH and the civil hospital,” said Mayor Renu Bala Gupta.

Govt making new nursing policy: Khattar

CM Manohar Lal Khattar has said that the state government was working on a new nursing policy to check irregularities in some nursing colleges. “We are going to formulate a new nursing policy for the smooth functioning of the nursing colleges in the state,” he said. He said that with the formation of the new policy, the number of seats for nursing students would be increased and the shortage of paramedical staff would also end.
