Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar paid a surprise visit to the women’s police station and Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College Hospital (KCGMCH) here today.
He interacted with women who visited the police station for lodging complaints and assured them that police women would deliver justice. At the KCGMCH, he asked patients about the facilities in the hospital.
The CM was in the city to attend a programme of Shri Krishan Janmashtami in a Sector-14 temple.
Khattar expressed concern over the outbreak of dengue in Karnal and directed KCGMCH Director Dr Surinder Kashyap and Civil Surgeon Dr Anita Aggarwal to take measures for checking the disease.
“Dengue and malaria are on the rise in Karnal. Steps should be taken to check them. Negligence will not be tolerated at any cost,” he said. When the media asked about power outages and shortage of water in the KCGMCH, Khattar directed the authorities to rectify the problems. He told the authorities to maintain cleanliness and don’t let water accumulate at any place.
At the women’s police station, Khattar directed the personnel to hear out complainants patiently.
The CM said one of the complainants told him she was being harassed for three years, but was hesitant to lodge a complaint. The new police station raised her confidence to lodge her complaint, Khattar said. On one complaint, the CM directed the IGP and the SP to take action.
Reservation only for the needy: Khattar
On the politics over reservation, CM Manohar Lal Khattar said the government had decided not to politicise this matter. The reservation should be provided to the people who are backward educationally, socially and economically. “Those availing the benefit, reservation should be extended only to the needy,” he added. — TNS
