Dehradun, July 8

Chief Minister TS Rawat on Saturday began stocktaking exercise of the development works in constituencies falling under Dehradun district.

The Chief Minister was forced to redraft the programme, as earlier he had announced that monitoring of development works would be carried in 57 constituencies, which are with the BJP MLAs. But after raising objections by the Opposition Congress, the programme was redesigned with focus on districts.

PCC chief Pritam Singh said he was not invited for the exercise,  though, he is MLA from Chakrata, that falls under Dehradun district.

During the exercise, the Chief Minister called upon the officials concerned to complete the formalities for harnessing of water from the Song river.

He said people and schoolchildren should be motivated for greater participation in the proposed plantation programme in the Rispana area on July 22.

Dehradun district in-charge Yashpal Arya and other district-level officers were present along with BJP MLAs.

The Chief Minister said the District Magistrate would look after the works at the district-level while Secretary Amit Negi at the state-level.

The Chief Minister announced Rs 15 lakh for the Doon Library Research Center at  Parade Ground in the Rajpur Assembly area. He also sanctioned Rs 1 crore for the construction of Press Club building.
