Ludhiana: A cleanliness week was celebrated at BCM Kindergarten School. A special assembly was held and a demonstration was given on how to wash hands. The students were also taught table manners.  

GRANDPARENTS’ DAY 

Holy Angels School celebrated Grandparents’ Day. Students’ grandparents participated in the event. Many entertaining games were played such as ‘Ball in the bucket’ in which Harish Dawar (Avika Dawar’s gradfather) won and ‘A thread in the needle’ in which Mohinder Kaur (Bisanpreet’s grandmother) was declared the winner. A photography session was also held. 

BAL BHARATI SCHOOL 

The day was celebrated as ‘Benevolence day’. In all, 400 students of Pre-Nursery, Montessory I and Montessory II came forward to pay gratitude to the grandparents. Special lunch-boxes were prepared by the grandmothers. An exhibition, ‘Á walk through the memories’ was also held.

WORKSHOP

A workshop on time management was conducted at Eastwood International School. The theme of the workshop was challenges faced by teachers in managing non-directed time. A video conveying the message, ‘Laughter is the best medicine’ was shown. Techniques and methods of managing time effectively were also told. An influential video of the ‘dabbawalas’ of Mumbai was also shown. 

BOXING TOURNAMENT

The players of Nankana Sahib Public Senior Secondary School, Isru, brought laurels in the U-17 and U-19 categories in the Distict-Level Boxing Competition held at Shahi Sports Physical College in Samrala. Harsmardeep Singh got the first position in the U-19 category of 81-91 kg. Jaspreet Singh got the second position in the category of open weight +91kg. Gurkaran Singh got the first position in the U-17 category of 77kg in weight lifting. 

JUDO CHAMPIONSHIP

Girls of BVM Chandigarh won medals and overall first position in the Ludhiana District Judo Championship held at Guru Nanak Stadium. In the U-14 category, Ramanpreet and Anshika won gold and got selected for the state-level championship. Khushi and Kashish bagged a silver each and Khushpreet won a bronze. In the U-17 and U-19 categories, Manmeet Kaur, Kanwalpreet Kaur, Manbir Kaur, Shaba, Nancy, Yukta and Sukhman won bronze.

SPORTS DAY FOR TEACHERS

A sports day was held for teachers of Drishti Dr RC Jain Innovative Public School, Narangwal. Three games were played including kho-kho, badminton and basketball. There were four houses: Kalam, Tagore, Aryabhatta and Phule. A friendly basketball match between the visiting alumni and the current students was also held. —TNS
