CJM records statement of desecration accused

On an application by Vijay Kumar, the main accused in the case of desecration of Quran in Malerkotla, Sangrur Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) has recorded his statement at the Sangrur district jail. The application was submitted to the Superintendent of District Jail, Sangrur, by Vijay Kumar, saying that he wanted to give his statement to the CJM.

Sangrur Jail Superintendent Hardip Singh Bhatti today confirmed that Vijay had submitted an application to him, which he had sent to the CJM. The CJM visited the jail on July 15 and recorded his statement. However, he could not give details of the statement, saying he had not seen it.

On the other hand, Sangrur SSP Pritpal Singh Thind said the police had not got his statement recorded so far. With regard to an application for the arrest of Delhi AAP MLA Naresh Yadav, the SSP said no proceedings had been initiated by the police so far.
