City woman dies in mishap at Jalandhar

JALANDHAR: A woman was killed and her husband and son were injured after their motorcycle was hit by a truck near the PAP chowk here today.

A woman was killed and her husband and son were injured after their motorcycle was hit by a truck near the PAP chowk here today.

The family, hailing from Ludhiana, was going to the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

Sources said Sukhwinder Singh, his wife Anita and six-year-old son Sukhdev Singh were going on a motorcycle (PB 10CY 3022) when it was hit by a truck coming from the rear side. The collision was so severe that the trio was thrown into the air. While Anita died on the spot, her son and husband got serious injuries.

The father and son are getting treatment at a private hospital here and are stated to be out of danger. The couple also has a 10-year-old daughter Simran, who was at home at the time of the mishap.

The police have informed the victims’ kin about the mishap and registered a case against the truck driver. — TNS
