City trader robbed on bus

CHANDIGARH: In yet another incident of a passenger being robbed after being offered sedatives during a journey from Delhi to Chandigarh, a businessman who is a resident of Sector 40, was duped of valuables, including a mobile phone, a gold ring and Rs 1,700.

In yet another incident of a passenger being robbed after being offered sedatives during a journey from Delhi to Chandigarh, a businessman who is a resident of Sector 40, was duped of valuables, including a mobile phone, a gold ring and Rs 1,700.

According to the police, the victim, identified as Shiv Pal, complained that an unknown person offered him a sedative-laced eatable during his journey from Delhi to Chandigarh on May 26 night.

The victim fell unconscious and later he found his mobile phone, a gold ring, an ATM card, a credit card, the driving licence and Rs 1,700 stolen. He was found in an unconscious state at the ISBT, Sector 17, after which he was hospitalised. The victim lodged a complaint with the police yesterday following which a case under Sections 328 (causing hurt by means of poison with intent to commit an offence) and 379 (theft) of the IPC was registered against the unknown person at the Sector 17 police station.

This is the second such incident reported in less than 10 days. Earlier, a US-returned software engineer was duped of his valuables on a Volvo bus after an unknown person offered him tea laced with sedatives during his journey from Delhi to Chandigarh. The victim, Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Noida, fell unconscious and later found his laptop, iPhone, gold ornaments and $100 stolen. Mukesh Kumar was found in an unconscious state at the ISBT, Sector 17, on May 21.
