CII delegates get to know of ‘best’ industry practices

A two-day Manufacturing Excellence Mission organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at Pantanagar concluded today. A delegation of the CII visited four industries that have excelled in the automotive sector, namely Tata Motors Ltd, Bajaj Auto Ltd, Minda Corporation and Lumax Industries. The key objective of the mission was to share and learn the best manufacturing practices of the visited companies, that make them leaders in their respective areas of work.

Suresh Redhu, chairman of the CII Uttarakhand State Council, said in his concluding session address that such missions provided an opportunity to the participants to have first-hand exposure and insight on the technological strengths of the companies they visited.

Ashutosh Varman, state head of the government affairs, Tata Motors Pantnagar, shared the vision of the Tata Group, highlighting its values and ethics. Chinmoy Roy of Tata Motors briefed the visiting delegation on the high safety standards being adopted by the company to protect environment and people in and around the manufacturing facilities. He also talked about the good manufacturing practices adopted for excellence in manufacturing. He apprised the delegation about the Taikisha Paint Shop which he said was the single largest paint shop in Asia.

Minda Corporation plant head LN Joshi apprised the delegates on creating value for all stakeholders through Total Employee Supplier Customer Involvement (TESCI).

As many as 35 delegates from 14 companies viz Titan Industries Ltd, ITC Ltd, Wipro Enterprises (P) Ltd , Jakson Engineers Ltd, PRINCE Pipes & Fittings Pvt. Ltd, Polyplex Corporation Ltd, Claas India Pvt. Ltd, Bajaj Motors Limited, Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Ambica Steels Ltd, Novoflex Industries, GDPA Fasteners Jalandhar, PP Rolling Mill and Shivalik College of Engineering were part of the delegation.
