Officials of the Department of Women and Child Development today stopped the parents of a 17-year-old girl from solemnising her marriage. Rajni Gupta, Protection Officer-cum-Child Marriage Prohibition Officer, said a police party reached Sondha Pur village and stopped the marriage. The parents failed to produce the age proof of the girl, but later her mother told the police that she was 17 years old. —TNS
