Chandigarh, June 10

Taking a major step towards providing transparent services in a time-bound manner to the public, the Chandigarh Housing Board has finalised the Citizen’s Charter, specifying the period within which officials have to complete the task for which an application has been received.

The charter will now be placed before the Board of Directors at its next meeting for approval.

Maninder Singh, Chairman of the CHB, said, “We have been working on a comprehensive Citizen’s Charter, the first of its kind for any housing board in the country. Various services relating to the public will be included in the Citizen’s Charter, one of the key segments under the Smart City project of the Centre.”

Sources said under the proposed charter, all types of property transfer cases will be dealt with in 42 days. The applicant will get a notice for the transfer within seven days of the application. The transfer process will start after 21 days. The timeline will also be fixed for the services under Tatkal cases. It has been proposed that residents will get an NOC for loans and other purposes within 21 days of filing the applications.

Alterations: Submit plans to CHB

The CHB has allowed allottees of all CHB dwelling units, who have already made additions and alterations which are not as per the standard designs, to submit their plans to the board for approval along with the structural design and a duly stamped certificate of structural stability from a registered structural engineer.

CHB simplifies procedure

The CHB has simplified the procedure in property transfer cases where death certificates are not available or are not in the possession of applicants. The Chairman has ordered that in such cases, the applicants should submit “separate affidavits of two separate persons”.
