Having failed to get a clue in the past six months in the case involving the desecration of Guru Granth Sahib at Bargari village and theft of a ‘bir’ from a gurdwara at Burj Jawahar Singh Wala village in Faridkot district, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday announced a Rs 10-lakh cash reward for anyone giving information about the accused.

An SP-rank officer of the CBI heading the inquiry said public’s cooperation had been sought for providing information about those who had indulged in theft and desecration of the holy book.

The information may be given to the nearest branch of the CBI anywhere in the country. The name of the informant would be kept secret, the SP said.

For the past six months, the CBI has been investigating the theft of the ‘bir’ from a gurdwara at Burj Jawahar Singh Wala village, which had triggered many similar incidents and kept Punjab on the boil for over a month.
