Sajjad Ahmed alias Abu Obaidullah was captured by the army in Rafiabad near the Line of Control on Thursday. Three other suspected militants were killed in a two-day long gun battle after the army caught them sneaking into the Indian territory in Uri sector.

A day before the encounter, another extremist was gunned down after security forces received intelligence reports of militants’ presence in the area.

Ahmed's detention comes three weeks after Naved, a suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist from Pakistan, was arrested after he and his associate attacked a BSF convoy in Chenani area of Udhampur district on August 5. His associate was killed in the shootout that followed. — PTI
