Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh today took on Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal, saying that after 10 years of Akali-BJP “misrule”, Punjab could not afford another five years of anarchy and misgovernance.
Rubbishing the Delhi CM’s claims of promising good governance in Punjab, Amarinder asked Kejriwal to list a single promise made to the people of Delhi that he had fulfilled.
“Rather he has himself been admitting that if he can fulfil 40 per cent of the promises made in the manifesto, it will be a great achievement. Then why did he make promises in the manifesto... This is cheating,” he said.
Accusing Kejriwal as a “congenital and compulsive liar who backs out from everything he says”, the PPCC chief said the AAP convener had sworn never to join politics and later vowed not to take an official car or residence. “Not only is he enjoying all facilities, he went a step ahead by increasing his salary by 400 per cent,” he added.
‘Will scrap contract system’
Faridkot: To woo over 90 lakh voters in the 18-40 age group, PPCC chief Capt Amarinder Singh today held an interaction with college and school students here. He shared Punjab Congress’ political agenda for the 2017 Assembly elections with them.
Replying to questions raised by college students on unemployment, farm and industrial crisis, corruption, pollution and drug menace, Amarinder blamed the Akalis for these problems. He also spoke on the falling standards of education in the state.
He promised that if voted to power, the Congress would scrap the contractual system of appointments, besides assuring minimum salary to new recruits.
