The Uttarakhand Cabinet is expected to meet on a floating restaurant at the Tehri dam reservoir on October 15 when the Tehri Adventure Festival will start there.

Tourism Minister Dinesh Dhanai, while addressing mediapersons in Dehradun today, said it was expected that the Cabinet meeting would be held on a floating restaurant in Tehri on October 15. Chief Minister Harish Rawat would also inaugurate the two-day Third Tehri Adventure Festival in the Tehri dam reservoir the same day.

He said the highlight of the adventure festival would be selection trails for the Indian jet skiing team that would be organised at the Tehri dam reservoir on the basis of performance. The Jet Skiing Association of India, Paragliding Association of Uttarakhand, Kyaking and Canoeing Association of Uttarakhand and the Water Skiing Federation of India are the prominent associations that would actively help in organising the festival. The National Institute of Mountaineering would put up an exhibition on the occasion, he added.

Dhanai said cultural and other programmes would be held during evening hours on October 15 and 16. Locals were expected to actively participate in it. He added Swami Chidanand Muni would perform the Ganga aarti at Koti Colony in Tehri on October 15 evening while famous Garhwal folk singer Narendra Singh Negi would give a performance the next evening.

He said participants from the Uttarakhand Police, Uttar Pradesh Police, Shiwalik Club, Roorkee, Water Sports Club, Nainital, Kumaun University and Gularbhoj Club, Udham Singh Nagar, would take part in various events.

Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board Chief Executive Officer Shailesh Bagoli said the Tehri Adventure festival was an effective way to bring in investments in the adventure tourism sector in the state.
