The police today booked the driver and conductor of a bus on the charges of assaulting a woman and attempting to outrage her modesty.

The bus belongs to New Deep Bus Service, a transport company owned by the Akali candidate from Gidderbaha, Hardeep Singh Dhillon.

The complainant alleged that she asked the conductor to drop her at a chowk in Faridkot town so that she could catch another bus for Tarn Taran, but he thrashed her and didn’t let her board the bus. The conductor and the driver fled from the spot when the passengers raised a hue and cry.

A case has been registered under Sections 354, 341, 323, 506 and 34 of the IPC against the unidentified duo, said Manjeet Kaur, DSP, Faridkot. The bus has been impounded.

When contacted. Dhillon said he was unaware of the incident. “However, I will look into the case,” he added.
