Bus accident: SO, ARTO suspended

DEHRADUN: As a fallout of the Dhuma Kot bus accident in which 48 people lost their lives, Uttarakhand Chief Minister TS Rawat has ordered suspension of SO Dhumakot and Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) for negligence in duty. On the back foot after angry crowds greeted him when he had visited the houses of the bereaved in Dhumakot to pay condolences, the Chief Minister upon his return issued the orders. Along with the suspension of junior officers, the Chief Minister also removed Dilip Jawalkar as Garhwal Commissioner and DIG Garhwal Pushpak Jyoti from their posts. — TNS
