Chamba is a far-flung district of Himachal Pradesh and represented by mostly by the opposition leaders. But Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh is committed to overall development of the district. Stating this, Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) vice-president Harsh Mahajan, who is also chairperson of HP State Cooperative Bank, today said that the state government had drawn up a scheme for construction of a double-lane bridge across the Ravi at Baloo in Chamba district. The plan had been submitted to the Union Government and the approval was expected to be given shortly.

With the construction of Baloo bridge, the problem of blockade of vehicular traffic would be resolved and the people of the region would get relief, Mahajan said.

Mahajan disclosed that Ludera-Sudi, Rodi-Gela-Matyanu, Rajindu link road, Rajera-Jhulara, Sungal-Plunhi, Bhanera-Kolka, Ludera-Kaila, Dob-Dakrund and other link roads would be constructed and metalled.

A sum of Rs 13.47 crore had been sanctioned by the state government to undertake the work on these roads. After these roads were completed, most of the villages of the district would be linked with the roads network.

A medical college and a bus stand had already been sanctioned for Chamba. There were the landmark achievements of the Congress government in the state, Mahajan said.
