Doraha, March 24

One of the two policemen suspended for allegedly taking bribe from a traffic violator toady pleaded innocence before DSP Payal Varinderjit Singh Thind. Manjit Singh, who reportedly does not figure in the video footage, claimed he was not present at the Gurthali bridge, instead was deployed at the Doraha railway station when the incident took place yesterday.

Finance Minister Manpreet Badal yesterday caught policemen accepting bribe from a commuter. Manjit said he had been falsely indicted in the case and claimed that he drives a rapid rural response team vehicle and was present at the Doraha railway station with his team comprising constable Karamjit Kaur and head constable Sukhwinder Singh.

DSP Payal said the inquiry was going on and nothing could be said before its completion. — OC
