Boys outshone girls in the Class X exam result declared by the J&K Board of School Education (BOSE) today. A total of 83 per cent students qualified the exam.
The pass percentage of boys is 84.61 per cent and the girls is 81.45 per cent.
Of the 58293 students enrolled in Class X, 42,208 students qualified the exam which was conducted during the unrest in November.
The board this year introduced the SMS mode and declared the results exclusively through e-mode.
“The overall pass percentage is 83 per cent in which 3,413 students have secured A1 grade,” said BOSE chairman Zahoor Ahmad Chatt.
After the date sheet for the exam was notified in September amid the unrest in the Valley, there was a divided opinion over holding the exam. A section of the students was demanding that the exam be postponed as they had not completed their syllabus.
However, the exams witnessed 99 per cent attendance. Some of the students who had received pellet injuries during the unrest also appeared in the exam.
The exam was held amid tight security as there was apprehension that some elements may be disrupted.
The exams started on November 14 amid fear and disturbance and ended on November 27.
