Boy dies as tipsy biker hits auto-rickshaw

Chandigarh: A six-year-old boy died after the stationary auto-rickshaw he was sitting in was hit by a tipsy bike rider near Khuda Lahora late last night.

A six-year-old boy died after the stationary auto-rickshaw he was sitting in was hit by a tipsy bike rider near Khuda Lahora late last night.

The police said the incident occurred when auto driver Roshan Mandal, a resident of Nayagaon, left with his son Vishal in the auto-rickshaw from their house. Roshan parked his auto alongside the road and went to buy milk from a nearby shop. Vishal was told to sit in the vehicle and wait for his father to come back.

After a while, a bike rider came from the rear and banged into the parked three-wheeler. With the impact, the boy fell on the road and sustained head injuries. His father rushed to the spot and shifted him to the Government Multi-Speciality Hospital, Sector 16.

His condition was serious and he died at the hospital today. After post-mortem examination, the police handed over the body to his family. The bike rider has been identified as Pappu, a resident of Khuda Ali Sher.
