Blueprint for city railway station project finalised

The blueprint for the proposed world-class Chandigarh railway station has been finalised. Besides, some projects have also been approved for Ambala Cantt, Saharanpur and Bathinda railway stations.

General Manager, Ambala Railway Division, Dinesh Kumar, said a railway agency had been preparing the design and the cost estimates of the new look of the Chandigarh railway station. He said the railway station would be equipped with world-class facilities. He said Ambala Cantt, Bathinda, Mohali and Una would be developed as model railway stations, adding that a few railway stations under the Ambala division would also be developed as modern stations.

The official said four escalators would also be set up at Chandigarh railway station by March next year. He said a provision of lifts had also been made at some railway stations for elderly and physically challenged persons.
