The BJP today raised fingers over state government’s move to lease out Chintpurni bus stand in Una district to a private company.

In a joint press conference held here, BJP state spokesperson Hemanshu Misra and co-media in charge Rakesh Sharma alleged that the government had outsourced the said bus stand to a private company MRC Group for 33 years on annual lease money of Rs 56 lakh

The BJP leaders said that the government would have earned Rs 1.25 crore per year. “However, the government has given the bus stand on lease which would cause loss of Rs 69 lakh per year to the state exchequer and in 33 years it would be around 22 crores.

“What was the compulsion that the government leased the bus stand to benefit a private firm” they said.

BJP leaders said the Chintpurni bus stand was built on 26 kanals of land donated by three families. “As per the agreement the land was to be used to build bus stand only and any other construction would render the agreement null and void,” they claimed.

They alleged that the MRC Group is planning to build a multi- story parking. “The company is already charging Rs 100 and Rs 250 as parking fee for small and commercial vehicles, respectively,” alleged BJP leaders adding that the private company is also using the name of the state transport department on the receipts which indicates a big scam in leasing out of the bus stand.
