Dehradun, April 29

A delegation of Uttarakhand BJP leaders met Governor KK Paul today and apprised him about the problem arising due to massive forest fires raging in the state.

They also demanded solution to water crisis.

The delegation led by Uttarakhand BJP president Ajay Bhatt submitted a memorandum to the Governor.

Later Bhatt said, besides the issue of forest fires and the water crisis was also discussed.

“We said that besides these issues that required immediate attention, efforts should also be made for the smooth conduct of the Char Dham Yatra and monitoring of reconstruction works underway in the disaster affected districts,” said Bhatt.

Significantly, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat had yesterday stressed the need to tackle forest fires. Today, it was the turn of the BJP to take up the issue with the Governor. Since the imposition of President’s rule in the state, both BJP and Congress had been racing to Raj Bhavan with various demands.
