To celebrate the one-year term of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre, a district-level programme was held here today. Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Mahesh Sharma presided over the function. He termed the one-year rule of the Modi government as more productive than five-year tenure of the UPA government.

Mahesh Sharma spoke about different social welfare schemes like Jan Dhan Yojana, LPG gas subsidy, insurance, health cards and foreign investments. He said in comparison to Congress schemes, the common man and the poor were directly availing the benefits of these schemes.

The minister said no case of corruption or scam had erupted during the one-year rule of the NDA government at the Centre, and this had changed the image of the country globally.

Haridwar MP Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said the Union government had succeeded in bridging the gap between poor and rich and rural and urban segments.

“Inflation, crime, corruption is under control and the foreign policy has touched to new heights. As a result in the coming years huge foreign investment is bound to flow in the country, thus creating job opportunities for the youthe,” said Nishank.

Three-time city legislator Madan Kaushik said, “The impact of one-year development oriented tenure of the BJP at the Centre is such that people of Uttarakhand are now making their mind to bring the BJP government in the state.”
