Dehradun, January 16

Bachiram Kanswal, senior leader of CPM, has urged party activists to stand together to sensitise masses about the anti-people policies which were imposed by the successive BJP and Congress governments in the state.

He said the Congress-led state government had failed on all fronts.

Kanswal was speaking while chairing a convention of left parties here today.

He said party activists would campaign in support of their candidates and sensitise the masses about corruption which had erupted during BJP and Congress regimes in the state.

Kanswal urged the activists to spread the party’s ideology among the masses. “Corruption has increased manifolds since Uttarakhand was carved out from Uttar Pradesh in 2000,” he said.

The CPI (M) leader expressed concern over the fact that development activities had come to halt in the state.

He alleged that both the mainstream political parties had done nothing for the development of the state and instead had extended support to land, mining and liquor mafia. The left parties were forerunners in raising residents’ issues on regular basis, Kanswal added.

Anand Singh Rana, Samar Bhandari, Surendra Singh Sajjwan and Surendra Bhandari were also present.
