Solan, August 25

Alleging large-scale corruption in the allotment of power projects in the state, a former executive committee member of the state BJP, Kushal Jethi, today demanded a CBI probe into the allotment.

In a letter written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jethi said a high-level probe would unearth their operations which smacked of corruption.

Addressing mediapersons here today, Jethi said it was intriguing to note that several hydel projects were operating from small offices in Delhi, Mohali, Shimla and Noida. He alleged that several power projects shared common addresses and it appeared that they were being operated by a single person.

Jethi while producing the list of such power projects said he had apprised the Chief Minister of such projects along with documentary evidence and despite assuring him of an early action, nothing had been done so far.

He alleged that several such companies had been blacklisted in Uttarakhand after large-scale corruption had been unearthed in their operations, but it was intriguing as to how they had been allotted power projects in Himachal. He said only a CBI probe could unearth the truth behind their allotment.

He alleged that 30 hydel projects were cancelled in Uttarakhand from 2007 to 2012 and several such projects were allotted in Himachal. As many as six projects were operating from SCO-140-141, Sector-34-A, Chandigarh, which included two projects of 9 MW and 4 MW of M/S Kapil Mohan Associated Hydro Power Pvt Ltd, two projects of 8 MW and 20 MW allotted to M/S Chandigarh Distilleries and Bottlers Ltd and one project of 24 MW capacity allotted to M/S Kut Energy (P) Ltd. M/S Himani Chamunda Thingri project of 9.50 MW also operated from the same office.

Both Kapil Mohan Association and Chandigarh Distilleries had been blacklisted by Uttarakhand, alleged Jethi.

He alleged that five other projects were operating from D-390, sector-10, Noida, which included M/S Shangling hydropower project, M/S Purthi Hydropower Project Private Ltd, M/S Telling hydropower project, M/S Lara Sumta hydropower project and Sumte Kothang hydro-power project.

He urged the Prime Minister to initiate a CBI probe to unearth the alleged connivance of officials and politicians into their allotment.
