Shimla, January 31

BJP activists were out on streets demanding the arrest of state Youth Congress president Vikramaditya Singh for the violent clash that took place in the state capital on Thursday.

BJP workers raised slogans against the Congress government and demanded a CBI probe into the attack on their office by Youth Congress activists.

Leading the protest, local legislator Suresh Bhardwaj said the BJP would not tolerate this kind of goondaism, led by none other than the son of the Chief Minister.

“We demand a fair and impartial probe which is possible only if the inquiry is handed over to the CBI as the Himachal police is incapable of acting in a fair manner,” Bhardwaj said.

He said the Youth Congress workers involved in the clash, including Vikramadiyta Singh, must be arrested.

He warned that the BJP would continue with its protest, seeking dismissal of the Congress regime.

Similar dharnas and protests were held at various district headquarters all over the state led by state BJP leaders.

Bhardwaj also took strong exception to the statements by Congress leaders blaming BJP for the clash.

“Can the Congress explain as to why the BJP office was chosen as the venue and what were people who are vice-chairmen of various Boards and Corporation the state government doing there?” he said.
