Biker dies in hit-and-run

CHANDIGARH: In a hit-and-run case, a 26-year-old motorcyclist was killed and the pillion rider injured while in another incident, three youths riding a motorcycle were seriously hurt after being hit by a bus last night.

In a hit-and-run case, a 26-year-old motorcyclist was killed and the pillion rider injured while in another incident, three youths riding a motorcycle were seriously hurt after being hit by a bus last night.

Sources said in the first incident, the victim, identified as Rajat, a resident of Sector 20 and native of Jammu, was killed when the motorcycle he was riding was hit by an unidentified vehicle near the Kalagram light point.

Pillion rider Sanchit, a resident of Kharar, was injured in the accident. The duo was returning from Panchkula when the accident took place.

The accused driver fled from the spot. Passersby informed the police after which the victims were rushed to the PGI where Rajat was declared brought dead. 

The victim was working with a company in Sector 26.The police have registered a case against the unidentified driver at the Mani Majra police station.

Hit by bus, three motorcyclists hurt

In another incident, three youths riding a motorcycle were seriously injured when the motorcycle was hit by a Himachal Roadways bus at the Hallo Majra light point. 

Vishal, a resident of Colony No. 4, was riding the motorcycle.The injured were rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, where their condition is said to be serious.

The police have registered a case against the bus driver, Vijay Kumar, at the Sector 31 police station. He has been arrested. 

Canter driver killed 

Mohali: One person was killed in a head-on collision between a canter and a tractor-trailer on the Kharar-Kurali highway on Thursday morning. The victim has been identified as Abhey Singh, a resident of Ambala, who was driving the canter. He was taken to the PGI, where he was declared brought dead.
