Bid to break open ATM

An attempt to break open an ATM was made in Sector 35 last night. The incident was caught on a CCTV camera installed inside the ATM.

According to the police, three youths entered the ATM of the State Bank of Patiala and made an unsuccessful attempt to break open the machine. The guard present there raised the alarm following which the trio fled from the spot.

The CCTV footage shows three youths with their faces covered trying to break open the ATM.

Inspector Ram Dayal, SHO of the Sector 36 police station, said a car, suspected to be belonging to the youths, had been caught on CCTV cameras installed near the ATM. “It appears the youths did a recce of the area before striking at the ATM,” the SHO said. A case has been registered.
