Bhiwani, June 28

A day after Bhiwani-Mahendergarh MP Dharambir Singh’s brother Rajbir alias Lala was booked in Jind for abducting a five-year-old girl; Jind police conducted raids at his Bhiwani residence today.

Rajbir’s daughter Priyanka, who died in April, 2014, was married to Abhimanyu of Sonepat district. Abhimanyu charged that Rajbir accompanied by accomplices had kidnapped his daughter Smridhi.

Rajbir who has gone underground after the episode told media that after his daughter, Priyanka’s death, her husband had snapped ties with them.

On the kidnapping charge, he said his son-in-law (Abhimanyu) wanted to remarry, but was not looking after Smridhi properly as she had been ill for a long time. “On Saturday, we went to Jind and brought Smridhi with us for her treatment,” he said.

Sources said Smridhi had over 20 acres of agriculture land in her name and that was the bone of contention between her paternal and maternal side.

Refusing to divulge his location, Rajbir said he would soon produce himself with Smridhi before the Jind court. Jind SP Abhishek Jorwal said they had served notice to Rajbir alias Lala to join the investigation at the earliest.
